THE BELLE EPOQUE MEMORIAL also known as “THE MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR AT HARRY STYLES” AT THE KIANA LODGE IN POULSBO WA (hosted by Briana Lane of the MWA NW Board)

Tickets for MWA Members: $100 Tickets for Non-Members: $140 All Tickets include Continental Breakfast and Gourmet Sandwich Bar Lunch (including Kiana Lodge’s fabled fresh salmon!), as well as snacks, fruit, sides, salad, desserts, s’mores and beverages throughout the day. There are only 60 tickets available for this event.

  • Informal gathering from 10:00 to 10:30 am
  • Memorial and tributes begin at 10:30 am
  • Special Presentations, Physical Autopsy, Forensic Case Analyses throughout the morning
  • Continental Breakfast, snacks, beverages served throughout the morning
  • Gourmet Sandwich Bar Lunch with sides and salad: 1:30 pm
  • Special Presentations, Interrogations, Psychological Autopsy, Theories of The Case throughout the afternoon
  • Snacks and beverages available throughout the afternoon
  • Dessert and s’mores by the fire: 4:00 pm
  • Evidence, indictments, accusations, final solution, The Reichenbach Falls, attempts to prove and arrest, as: The Truth Comes Out: concluding at 5:00 pm
  • Final Curtain: MWA NW Writing Contest for Styles Event Guests — “The Belle Epoque Writing Challenge” – a creative prompt will be given as a printed and numbered hand-out at Styles Event conclusion. Entry submissions are due within thirty days. Good luck to all! There will be three cash prize winners, and online publicity/promotion announcing the winners. (see below for contest details)

WRITING CONTEST

THE BELLE EPOQUE CREATIVE WRITING CHALLENGE “RESOLVED, The Board of MW NW is proud to recognize the contributions of Belle Epoque to our Chapter and to the world of mystery and literacy, and so we hereby establish The Belle Epoque Creative Writing Challenge, with prizes of First Place $200, Second Place $150, and Third Place $100, and on-line publicity/promotion by MWA NW announcing the three winning submissions from paid Guests at The Styles Event.” Challenge Rules: All Guests in attendance pursuant to a paid ticket will be given an event-inspired writing prompt at the conclusion of the Styles Event on April 30, 2023. Guests then have through May 30, 2023 to write and submit their original creative writing material which is responsive to the event and the prompt. Eligible materials are short stories, monologues, poems, and epic song lyrics. Maximum length of submission is 2500 words. Submissions will be made on-line in digital .pdf format. At time of submission there will be a detailed entry form and certification of authorship. MWA NW acquires no rights in and to the submitted material. There is no fee for submission and contest entry. Publicity/promotion of the three winning submissions will be subject to a temporary license for name/likeness from the Author. Judging of the submissions will be made by members of the MWA NW Board and/or active members of the chapter; Judges, Board Members, and families thereof are not eligible to enter the Challenge. These Rules may be updated or revised from time to time prior to the Styles Event.
